By Bike
Route 1
Winter Cove Park (5 km each way)
The quiet cove looks over a farm on nearby Samuel Island. Backed by forested Douglas fir upland, open meadows and a salt marsh, this sheltered cove is a popular day use area and is a great place for a picnic.
East Point Park (30 km round-trip)
Part of East Point Park, the trail takes you along the eastern edge of the island to East Point. It’s a relatively easy walk, with a gentle slope and well-maintained path. At the end of the trail, you will reach the easternmost point of Saturna Island. From here, you can see across the Strait of Georgia and watch for whales, seals, and other marine life. As part of The Whale Trail, it’s not-to-be missed.
Route 2
Narvaez Bay (5 km each way)
The beautiful bay surrounded by Douglas Fir is a great place to go for a hike and enjoy a picnic. There are a few different (moderate to difficult) trails to explore. The main trail leads you down to the shoreline and takes about half an hour (one way).
Route 3
Wharburton Pike (5 km each way and 400 m elevation)
Mount Warburton Pike is the highest peak on Saturna Island, with an elevation of 401m. The Brown Ridge trail that spans its south-facing slope is 6.0km out-and-back and is a challenging hike, with steep inclines and rocky terrain. The views from the top are breathtaking, and on a clear day, you can see as far as Mount Baker in Washington State. Watch for the feral goats that call this hillside home.

Our Relatives, the Islands
The Southern Gulf Islands have a rich Indigenous history, which means each of the five islands have been spoken to or about in several languages long before English or written letters existed.
Let us treat these islands as our relatives and learn about the places we live in or visit. The Southern Gulf Islands Tourism Partnership has put together a list of place names in SENĆOŦEN and Hul’q’umi’num’.
Is where you’re standing right now on the list?
